RTPI Awards for Research Excellence 2020: Shortlist for prestigious national awards announced

RTPI Awards for Research Excellence 2020: Shortlist for prestigious national awards announced

Community-led regeneration in London, UK mechanisms for capturing development value, and employment land allocation practices in South Yorkshire are among the research projects in this year’s RTPI Awards for Research Excellence Shortlist.

These awards recognise and promote high quality, impactful spatial planning research carried out by chartered members and accredited planning schools from around the world.

61 submissions were received across the four award categories: the Sir Peter Hall Award for Research Excellence, Early Career Researcher Award, Student Award, and the Planning Practitioner Award. Entrants from 22 universities across the UK and overseas, as well as public and private sector organisations took part in this year’s Awards and we thank all of the entrants for their submissions, which were of a particularly high calibre.

Seventeen projects have been shortlisted to compete across the four categories. Research on the impacts of high density living, and the value of planning and design in promoting respiratory health are also shortlisted, reflecting the diverse range of issues faced by the planning profession in its delivery of high quality, sustainable and healthy communities.

This year the awards have been sponsored by Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group) and Idox Knowledge Exchange. The winning and commended entries will be announced during an online ceremony on Monday, 7 September 2020.
