May 2020 United Kingdom local elections (including for councils, majors and police and crime commissioners) have been postponed until 2021. Read more

Secretary of State Robert Jenrick has been working with local government on further measures to allow greater flexibility on finances and committee meetings. Read more

The Coronavirus Act (2020) received Royal Assent on March 25, meaning it is now an Act of Parliament. The Act provides for the postponement of referendums by the Secretary of State, including under schedule 48 of the Town and Country Planning Act (dealing with neighbourhood development plans).
