The 2022 subscription rates are full year rates but we adjust them on a monthly pro-rata basis for new members and members who are changing their class.
The UK/ROI rate is for members living in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
Subscription Renewal Notices
The subscription rate used on renewal notices are for the full year and based on:
- Your membership class
- The country you live in on 1 January
- For Licentiates, the length of your membership
Licentiate members
We offer discount rates only to Licentiate members if they have less than three years in their class by 1 January.
New member subscription
We calculate the value of subscription on a monthly pro-rata basis. If you are elected during the first half of the month, we conclude that you have had your membership for the whole of that month when we calculate your subscription. The country you live in can also have an effect on which rate we use.
Example 1
A Licentiate Member is elected on 1 April 2022. The subscription is calculated as:
£64 x 9/12 = £48.00
Example 2
A Chartered Member resident in France is elected on 20 April 2022. The subscription is calculated as:
£209 x 8/12 = £139.33
Membership class change
We calculate members' subscriptions on a monthly pro-rata basis. You will have to pay the full month's subscription if you change your class in the first half of the month.
You may be entitled to a refund if your revised subscription notice is less than what you've already paid.
We will also calculate retired members' subscriptions based on when they apply to transfer to the Retired Members Class, unless they make another arrangement with us.
Example 3
A Licentiate Member of 4 years, living in Australia, is elected to Chartered Membership on 1 June 2021 and has paid £103.00 so far. The revised 2022 subscription is calculated as:

Reversion of membership Subscription
Retired members reverting back into their previous class will find the calculation of their subscription under membership class change above. If you later transfer back into the Retired Members Class, you will keep your original status, for example, if you were on a £nil subscription then this will be restored.
