This session explores how local authority officers can manage the politics of planning. Whether it is undertaking effective consultation on Local Plans, responding to priorities of members or ensuring that local residents and community groups are able to participate fully in the determination process, this training session will give you the tools to understand the pressures faced by elected members and how to help them come to a fair and balanced planning outcome.

The LPA Engage task group aims to provide low cost training that will cover some of the basic skills needed for Planning Officers and those working in associated departments.  With an ever evolving planning policy landscape and mounting local government challenges, the LPA Engage group seeks to work with Local Planning Authorities to offer tailored training, help improve working conditions and promote the perceptions of the public sector.
