The RTPI's Standing Committees and Sub-committees report to the Board of Trustees.

They play a vital role in supporting the Board's decision-making processes or in leading on pillars of the RTPI’s work to help deliver the vision and mission set out in our Corporate Strategy - from developing domestic or international policy, through to planning our financial strategy, ensuring world class auditing, or influencing or work around education and CPD offers.

Board Standing Committees and Panels

The Board has five Standing Committees which lead various strands of work under the RTPI’s corporate strategy:

Education and Lifelong Learning Committee

England Policy Committee

International Committee

Membership and Ethics Committee

Nations and Regions Panel

Either the Chair or Vice Chair of the Standing Committee will be a Trustee. Other members are appointed by the Board in consultation with the committee’s Chair. The composition of the Committees is intended to reflect the diversity of the RTPI’s members and includes at least five members of the General Assembly.

Board Sub-committees

The Board operates five Sub-committees which support the RTPI Board by providing additional scrutiny, discussion and assurance around key decisions:

Audit & Risk Committee

Finance Committee

Nominations Committee

People & Culture Committee

Policy, Practice and Research Committee

Each Sub Committee is chaired by a Trustee. Other members of the Sub-Committee include further Trustees or co-opted members who have been appointed by the Board to provide specific expertise or knowledge to that committee.

How do I get involved?

All RTPI members are eligible to apply to become a member of one of the Institute's Standing Committees.

In October each year members are invited to apply to join a Standing Committee for the following year through an online application form. Visit our Get Involved at the RTPI page to find out more about how to apply.

Membership of the Nations and Regions Panel is through nominations to Regional Management Boards and National Executive Committees in the regions and nations.
