Routes to Chartered Membership

Chartered RTPI Planners represent the gold standard of planning practice. They are recognised by employers, clients and members of the public for their skills, expertise and professional practice. We recognise that planners may enter the profession in different ways, which is why we offer four competency-based routes to Chartered membership based on your experience.

Regional celebration events

We know how much of an achievement gaining your Chartered status and your post nominals are, and we want to recognise and celebrate this with you. Come along, meet other members, and celebrate your hard-earned work.

APC webinars

We run a series of APC webinars, focusing on a different aspect of the APC process. They run from February to December and are usually either 30 or 60 mins sessions, at lunchtime.

RTPI reasonable adjustment policy

We are committed to supporting all candidates through the Assessment of professional competency (APC) and achieving Chartered membership. Therefore, we are happy to consider requests for reasonable adjustments, where appropriate, to enable this to happen.

Membership appeal procedure

If an applicant feels that the correct procedure has not been followed, they have the right to appeal the outcome of their assessment.
