The following positions will be appointed for terms starting 1 January 2026:

Presidential Team

The General Assembly

• Chartered Members (14 positions)
• Associate Members (2 positions)
• Legal Member or Legal Associate (2 position)

• Nations / English Regions General Assembly Representatives

Regions and Nations

Positions on our Regional Management Boards, Regional Activities Committees and National Executive Committees for Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  Various roles are available, to suit all membership classes.

Standing Committees

Positions on the Board's Standing Committees are through an application process in October 2025. All members will be sent comms about these roles and how to apply later in the year.

All roles are voluntary and unremunerated.

Nominations open: Monday 2nd June 2025 (8 weeks)

Nominations close: Monday 28th July 2025

Supporters’ applications close: Wednesday 30th July 2025

Election Voting opens: Monday 18th August 2025

Election Voting closes: Monday 15th September 2025

Results announced: w/c Monday 22nd September 2025

Nations and Regions positions

Nominations open: Tuesday 2nd September 2025

Nominations close: Friday 26th September 2025

Elections open: Monday 6th October 2025

Elections Close: Friday 31st October 2025

Standing Committee members

Committee applications open: Monday 6th October 2025

Committee applications close: Monday 10^th November 2025

Results announced: week commencing 15 December 2025

For positions in RTPI Nations and Regions:

Two supporters are required.

For positions on the Presidential Team, General Assembly and Board of Trustees:

The number of supporters and their type of membership depends on the position.

All positions will start from 1 January 2025.

The time commitment for each role varies. For Board of Trustees, General Assembly, committees in the Nations and Regions and standing committee roles you will be expected to read papers, attend the meetings and participate in the discussions.

Trustees will be expected to chair a committee and attend selected Standing Committees and/or Board Sub-Committees.

The individual role descriptions will provide further information about the number of meetings and expectations for each position.

It is useful to let your employer know you are considering applying for a volunteer role at the RTPI. Many employers are extremely supportive and encourage staff to take up governance roles because they bring so many opportunities for personal and professional development.

Retired members retain their status as Chartered members or Non-Chartered members held immediately before transferring to Retired Member status and are eligible to apply for the positions accordingly. Further details are available in the Role Descriptions.
