Affiliate 

Affiliate membership is the RTPI’s entry level class for those wanting to access our benefits and services, providing you don't meet the criteria for other membership classes. Join the Affiliate class if you are a supporter of planning or are gaining experience to progress your membership.

Licentiate

Licentiate membership is for graduates who have completed a fully RTPI accredited qualification. It is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Town Planner via the Licentiate Assessment of Professional Competence (L-APC). Applicants to this class must have either a 'combined' RTPI accredited qualification, or 'spatial' and 'specialist' RTPI accredited qualifications.

Associate

Associate membership is a partial professional qualification, awarded in recognition of achievement and demonstrable involvement in, or engagement with, particular areas of planning. Associate membership therefore indicates that you have achieved a certain level of knowledge and experience in your chosen planning field. We also have a resource centre to help with your application, and we run regular webinars

Chartered membership

The Licentiate Assessment of Professional Competence (L-APC) is the main route to becoming a Chartered Town Planner for graduates who have completed a fully RTPI accredited qualification. You must be a current Licentiate Member of the RTPI to apply through this route.

Fellow

Chartered Fellow is the highest professional membership grade offered by the RTPI. You must have made a major personal contribution to the planning profession for the benefit of the public and be a current Chartered Town Planner to apply.
