Entries open for 2023 RTPI Awards for Research Excellence

The RTPI is now inviting entries for this year's Awards for Research Excellence, which provide an opportunity to celebrate leading research across the planning community.

Now in their ninth year, these prestigious awards continue to recognise and promote high quality, impactful spatial planning research.

The awards are intended to recognise the best spatial planning research from RTPI accredited planning schools, highlight the implications of academic research for policy and practice, recognise the valuable contribution of planning consultancies to planning research and promote planning research generally.

There are five categories:

  • The Sir Peter Hall Award for Research Excellence
  • The Student Award
  • The Early Career Researcher Award
  • The Planning Practitioner Award
  • Practitioner Research Fund

This year also sees the return of the biennial Practitioner Research Fund - two grants of £5,000 to enable planning practitioners to conduct new research over the next 12 months. All RTPI members can apply, except those employed by, enrolled at, or affiliated to, an academic institution at the time of submission.

The awards are open from 16 March until 17 May. Judging will take place in July ahead of a finalists announcement in August.

The winners will be revealed at the UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference at the University of Glasgow on 4 September.
