This section provides advice to graduates and students looking to find a job or work experience. We’re here to help you from the start of your first year at university or college. We have also just launched a secondary school work experience toolkit for employers which contains advice and guidance for engaging with secondary schools.

Self employed

If you want to be your own boss or are currently self-employed, please look at our consultancy information and consider joining the Independent Consultants' Network.

Returning to work

If you are returning to work after a career break and your membership has lapsed, you have the option to rejoin as an RTPI Member.

Members on maternity/paternity or adoption leave are exempt from CPD monitoring for six months. This means that you need to record 37.5 hours of learning activity in each two-year period. If you take a longer period of leave, you are required to keep up-to-date with your CPD and we recognise that the methods you use for this time may be different from those you would use whilst working.
