The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the strategic direction and managing the affairs of the RTPI. It oversees how the Institute is meeting its strategic objectives and delivering services of value to our members. Trustees are elected by members of the General Assembly.

Role Title
Chartered Trustees (2 positions)
Outline of role
Trustees contribute to the Board's debates, discussions and collective decision-making. Trustees will also typically join (either as Chair or as a member) at least one of the Board's sub or standing committees and report on the work of that committee to the Board at each meeting.
Eligibility Criteria
- A chartered RTPI Member
- Credibility within the profession and among external stakeholders
- A commitment to supporting the RTPI’s strategic objectives and vision
Minimum time commitment
- 6 full day Board meetings a year and an annual Trustee training day
- Chair/member of at least one Board subcommittee or Standing Committee (4 half day meetings per year per committee)
- 4 General Assembly meetings a year
- Preparing for all meetings

Impact of the role
Trustees play a pivotal role right at the heart of the RTPI, bringing ideas, experience, knowledge and constructive challenge. They are collectively responsible for driving the RTPI forward, for setting and overseeing the delivery of strategies that meet the Institute’s purpose and for ensuring the effective use of RTPI resources.
How to get involved
Complete an online nomination form sent to you by [email protected] in June 2025.
Provide the names and details of six RTPI chartered members who support your nomination. Once you have submitted your nomination form, your named supporters will be sent an email from mi-voice and asked to complete supporters’ forms.
Your candidate statement will be published on the RTPI website and on the Mi-Voice voting pages in August and General Assembly members will be invited to view it and vote for the Chartered Trustees candidates. The two elected Trustees for 2026 will be announced in September 2025.
