As President of the European Council of Spatial Planners (ECTP-CEU), Janet Askew will attend a meeting of the Davos Alliance 2023, for its second meeting (the first was 2018) on the eve of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The Davos Alliance is a group of persons from the public and private sectors and civil society (NGOs), who are interested in creating a high-quality living environment that relates to culture-centred and sustainable approaches to development everywhere, which is referred to as ‘Baukultur’.
The aim of the meeting is to launch ‘The Davos Baukultur Alliance Founding Act’, which outlines the ambitions and objectives of the group. It will be launched at the Conference of the Ministers of Culture in Davos, Switzerland in January 2023. It will be addressed by the Chair of the World Economic Forum, and once agreed upon, the Davos Alliance ‘Founding Act’ will be presented to the World Economic Forum to seek their endorsement and adoption of the principles contained therein.
Janet Askew, past President of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and President of the European Council of Spatial Planners said: “Our goal is to promote the important role of planners in approaches to development. I will be calling upon the public and private sectors and civil society to work together to adapt to the needs of all people to create an inclusive society in which everyone can expect a decent way of life in high quality built and natural environments.”
