RTPI sets an employers’ standard for EDI

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) has launched its Inclusivity Framework, a benchmark aimed at employers across the planning profession that sets the standard for equality, diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Launched to recognise commitment and demonstration of action, the Framework is designed by the RTPI to be a tailored and realistic EDI strategy. The RTPI has worked closely with employers to support them as they undertake a journey of continuous improvement.

Signatories are provided with a range of resources to help them in their journey to becoming more inclusive. Employers will be able to display the mark of the RTPI Inclusive Framework in recognition of the level they have reached.

The Inclusive Framework is part of the Institute's own ongoing long-term commitment to building an inclusive culture within organisations and by extension by the wider profession as part of its CHANGE action plan.

Wei Yang, FRTPI, Immediate Past President, Board of Trustees EDI Champion said: “It is with real pleasure that, on behalf of the RTPI, I can announce the launch of this Inclusive Framework for planning employers.

“The Institute will support employers to set realistic goals and work out how they can be reached. This scheme is open to any organisation irrespective of size or sector.  I look forward to employers taking the steps to deliver CHANGE and ensure a truly diverse and inclusive profession.”

Becki Hinchcliffe, Director Eden Planning said: “We are really pleased to be taking part in this fantastic initiative from the RTPI. We are determined to be the best that we can to improve equity, diversity, and inclusion in our business and for the profession as whole.

“The discussions we have had with RTPI have already proved to be invaluable and insightful and we look forward to continuing to work with the RTPI as we continue our EDI journey.”
