Speakers announced for RTPI’s Planner Live North

A stellar line-up of speakers, including Housing Minister Christopher Pincher and Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey, will appear at the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Planner Live North virtual conference on 12 May.

The Planner Live North 2021: Powering up the North through Planning will look at how opportunities can be created in our underfunded northern cities to attract investment and drive sustainable business growth.

Speakers confirmed for the event (see image, clockwise from top left) include

  • Bridget Rosewell (Commissioner, Northern Infrastructure Commission)
  • Christopher Pincher MP (Housing Minister)
  • Dame Sarah Storey (Paralympian and Active Travel Commissioner, Sheffield City Region)
  • Lord Kerslake (Chair, UK2070 Commission)
  • Edna Robinson (Chair, People’s Powerhouse)
  • Henri Murison (Director, Northern Powerhouse Partnership)

Also speaking will be Jane Healey-Brown FRTPI (Director, ARUP), Sarah Longlands (Director, IPPR North), Jane Meek (Corporate Director of Economic Development, Carlisle City Council), Colin Parry MRTPI (Community Engagement Manager, Homes England) and RTPI Chief Executive Victoria Hills MRTPI.

Plenaries and break-out sessions during the day will look at topics including town centre resilience, community engagement, sustainable infrastructure, housing, active travel, design and low carbon energy.
