Information for APC, Associate and Legal Associate membership candidates submitting their application.

Submitting your application

You must submit your application by email to [email protected]

The RTPI will accept files up to 10 MB. If your application is larger than this, you will need to put all your files into a compressed zip folder, if this is not possible divide the application over several emails. Please ensure each email is properly labelled so that RTPI staff can identify all elements of your application (see below). In the header of your email, please include your membership number and the route or class you are applying to e.g. L-APC, Associate.

If you do not have a membership number, please use five zeros.

Labelling your application files

We accept Word, PDF and (in the case of emails for corroborating statements) outlook files. Submitting as a PDF file will ensure that your formatting, such as page layout, will not change so you may prefer to convert your files to PDF.

Your application form, personal details and payment form, PES, PCS, PDP, examples of professional work, sponsorship and corroboration must be submitted as separate files. Please label each file using the following convention:

  • Membership number – last name – route / class you are applying to – description of file e.g. 12345 Smith L-APC PDP
  • If you do not have a membership number yet, please label your documents with five zeros e.g. 00000 Smith Associate PES

Fees

An administration fee is required to process your application. Current administration fees are shown here as well as how to pay.

The Degree Apprenticeship End Point Assessment is funded as part of the Chartered Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship. Therefore, an administration fee is not required for the Chartered (DA-APC) route. An End Point Assessment Fee is paid by the university out of the apprenticeship funding.

The annual membership subscription fees to maintain your membership are listed here. A confirmation of fees notice will be issued to you once you have joined and will be pro-rated based on the month you join.

Submission deadlines

Applications are accepted four times per year. Resubmissions are accepted on different dates from first-time submissions.

You will be advised of the outcome of your application by email and your full results will be posted to your primary address to arrive by the published date. The RTPI cannot provide results in advance of the results dates.

Applications are accepted up to 11.59pm on the closing date.
