Winner - Bradford’s heritage led regeneration scheme submitted by Bradford Metropolitan District Council
The Bradford City Centre Townscape Heritage Scheme is a four-year, £2 million grant programme supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council. It provides financial assistance to property owners and tenants to restore their historic buildings within the part of the Bradford city centre conservation area commonly known as the 'top of town'.
Head judge John Craig said of the winning scheme: “This is a really good example of heritage-led regeneration. Bringing historic assets back into effective use and in doing so, supporting the local economy and social cohesion. The public realm improvements respond to the heritage context and contribute positively to the climate change agenda.”
