Chairs Message - May 2021: Championing an inclusive planning profession in London
RTPI London Awards for Planning Excellence
Our big news this month is the launch of the first ever RTPI London Awards for Planning Excellence.
For our inaugural awards we want our awards to shine a light on people and projects that are encouraging a more inclusive profession, and so we are very proud to be launching a special Chairs Award for Inclusive Planning in partnership with the BAME Planners Network.
This will be alongside regional awards for London Young Planner of the Year, Planning Team of the Year, and what we intend to be an Annual Award for Planning Excellence.
We will continue to support the London Planning Awards alongside our friends at London First and the GLA, but felt it was time to launch awards focused specifically on RTPI members working in London to bring us in line with other RTPI English Regions and Nations.

In other news we hosted an enlightening webinar with Women in Planning on inclusive streets. If you missed it you can view it here. We also held a fascinating webinar on designing for autism, part of our neurodiversity in planning series.
Our online series continues into the summer with the next in our Global Cities Exchange series on Plan Tech on 4 June 2021
Finally, RTPI election season is nearly upon us and we will be looking for members to join our Regional Activities Committee and Regional Management Board. If you are interested please get in touch.
