OPDC’s Public Realm and Green Infrastructure SPD provides innovative guidance to deliver high-quality, resilient, accessible and inclusive public spaces and greening, benefiting people and nature. Using a typology-based and visual approach for a range of streets and open spaces, the SPD identifies opportunities to deliver a resilient network for nature whilst improving air quality, water management, noise, and health and wellbeing. At its core it promotes equity and inclusivity for all groups with protected characteristics and other groups. It fosters lifetime neighbourhoods by integrating environmental sustainability, long term asset management and social value within one of the UK’s biggest regeneration areas.
