
Event Description
The Government’s target to build 1.5 million homes this parliament will require a significant increase in the provision of labour and building materials, including bricks. Join the West Midlands Young Planners as we tour Ibstock’s state of the art brick factory in Aldridge including a RIBA accredited CPD session on introduction to brickwork.
Draft event timetable
12pm – collection from Birmingham city centre for those booked onto transport
12.30-1pm – arrival at Ibstock Atlas factory and complimentary light lunch
1-3.15pm – attendees split into two groups:
- 1 hour factor tour, and
- 1 hour seminar including introduction to the Atlas facility and overview on sustainability, and Introduction to Brickwork (RIBA accredited CPD)
3.15-3.30pm – coffee break
3.30-4.30pm – speaker session, Dean Shaw from BPN Architects details
4.30pm – event close and transport departs for Birmingham city centre
Please Note:
- Ibstock can provide attendees with HI-Vis, ear and eye protection, and hard hats. Attendees should bring their own safety shoes / boots (such as robust hiking boots). However, if you are unable to do so, please can you email [email protected] to indicate your shoe size when you have booked your ticket for the event as a limited number of safety shoes / boots can be provided.
- Transport is being provided by Ibstock between Birmingham city centre and the Atlas factory in Aldridge. The transport will leave the city centre around midday returning around 5pm at a TBC location near New Street. Please email [email protected] if you require transport when you have booked your ticket for the event. Car parking is also available on site for attendees making their own way to the event.

Accessibility
- The venue is located approx. 30 minuets from Birmingham city centre. Transport from the city centre may be provide and this will be confirmed as soon as possible.
- The venue is accessible by taxi but please do check for road works before you travel as that part of the city centre is currently undergoing road works.
More details on the venues accessibility are will be published asap as a priority, however it is a modern factory that has just been renovated so should be fully accessible.
