Event Description
Join us for an informal walk and talk of between 1 – 2 hours led by the Mendip Hills National Landscape Team. The event will be centred around the Mendip Activity Centre - a major multi-use outdoor adventure, education and training centre and close partner organisation of the National Landscape team. Weather permitting (!), the walk will take in spectacular elevated views of the AONB and its wider setting and also offer a perspective on the protected landscape’s relationship with nearby built-up areas and major developments beyond its boundaries such as Hinkley C.
En route, we will discuss the special qualities of the National Landscape as reflected in the emerging Management Plan review and hear about the team’s work in supporting Farming in Protected Landscapes and the delivery of the Mendip Hills NL Nature Recovery Strategy. It will also be a chance to hear how the team are engaging people from under-represented communities in nearby Weston Super Mare in promoting enjoyment and appreciation of the protected landscape.
We will conclude with a visit to the on-site café at the Activity Centre where refreshments will be available.
