The new Planning and Infrastructure Bill is reshaping how we plan for the future. With Strategic Planning taking centre stage, this session brings together leading voices to explore how London is adapting and what this means for creating better places.

Join Dr Victoria Hills (CEO, RTPI), Lisa Fairmaner (Head of London Plan, GLA), Brett Leahy (Director of Planning and Growth, London Borough of Enfield), and Antje Saunders (Design Director at SNG) as they share insights on turning strategic planning challenges into opportunities for positive change.  Dr Roudaina Alkhani (Director of Platforms, member of RTPI London) will be chairing the session.

What to expect

Discover how Strategic Planning can unlock sustainable, resilient places that work for everyone. We'll explore practical approaches to housing delivery, infrastructure investment, and cross-boundary collaboration that strengthen London's planning capacity.

Our expert panel will tackle key questions: How can strategic planning prioritise housing alongside quality placemaking? What makes collaboration between neighbouring planning authorities and the GLA more effective? How do we learn from what makes places truly successful?

What you'll gain

  • Fresh perspectives on opportunities within the new Strategic Planning landscape and broader planning reforms and challenges to address
  • Practical understanding of how Strategic Planning delivers housing in synergy with infrastructure investment while enhancing place quality through integrated approaches
  • Clear insights into the principles of good growth and what creates quality places to inform and strengthen strategic planning practices
  • Examples of cross-sector, cross-boundaries collaboration and multi-stakeholder partnerships that drive better outcomes
  • Inspiration from London's experience that you can apply to future planning practice locally and nationally
