Andrew is a Chartered Town Planner in our Real Estate department. He specialises in planning matters and undertakes a range of development management, planning policy and enforcement work.
Andrew became a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute in 1996 and has been a planning consultant with Ward Hadaway for more than 20 years. He has worked throughout the north of the country and beyond undertaking planning work. Previously he was a planning officer with three local planning authorities. Additionally he has had a period of secondment with a national house builder. Clients include developers, businesses, estates, land owners, pressure groups and private individuals. Andrew is NEPRO accredited and additionally has had instructions from public sector organisations including councils, NHS Trusts and CCGs.
Andrew has particular expertise in cases which are contentious and where there are difficult policy, legal and technical issues.

Robert is a senior and experienced litigator having over 20 years of expertise handling a wide range of disputes for private, commercial, and public sector clients, and is recognised in Legal 500 as a leading individual.
Robert acts for a range of Ward Hadaway’s national and international clients handling a wide variety of disputes. These include complex contractual disputes, insurance claims, professional negligence claims, company, shareholder and joint venture disputes, and intellectual property litigation.
He also has a strong reputation providing advice in relation to public law disputes (judicial review), both to public bodies and commercial organisations.
Robert has represented clients in a number of high profile disputes at a variety of levels within the judicial system, including the Supreme Court. He also regularly advises clients about how to avoid or resolve disputes, including mediation and other ADR.

Constanze has a varied public law, planning and environmental law practice. Constanze practices in all areas of town and country planning law, including the specialist areas of compulsory purchase and highways. Her clients include developers, local planning authorities and local action groups. She regularly appears in inquiries as an advocate and is instructed to both bring and defend statutory challenges in the High Court. She has a busy advisory practice and regularly assists with complex enforcement cases, submissions for local plan consultations and advice regarding prospects of success on appeal. Particular areas of expertise include: the implementation of planning permissions; interpreting planning permissions and amending planning permissions.

Keith Burge is the Principal of Smarter Economics, a specialist economic development consultancy that undertakes strategy development, evaluations, impact assessments and appraisals, as well as offering support with funding bids and delivery plans. Keith began his career at HM Treasury, in the Industrial Policy Division. He then moved to the Northern Development Company, one of the forerunners to regional development agency One North East, firstly working in inward investment, subsequently moving into regional development and finally heading up the Economic Research Office.
For three decades, Keith was Managing Director of the economic development consultancy ERS, leading major research projects on behalf of a wide range of public, private and voluntary sector clients. He served on the Board of the Institute of Economic Development for 15 years, including an unprecedented 4 years as Chair, and was made a Fellow of the Institute.
Currently, Keith is a Trustee of Virgin Money Foundation, which distributes grants to community organisations across the North East of England and Greater Glasgow area, as well as making strategic investments in affordable housing projects nationally.

Kamran is a Partner and jointly heads up the Planning Team at Ward Hadaway specialising in all areas of planning highways and compulsory purchase law covering both contentious and non-contentious matters. He is ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as an expert in his field.
He jointly heads a large multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, chartered planners and technicians all of whom are focussed on addressing the planning and infrastructure needs of a broad client base. Kamran is particularly experienced at balancing the interests of the private and public sectors, whether that is in relation to the provision of new housing, major infrastructure, regeneration projects or mixed use schemes.
