Event Description
Join the RTPI West Midlands Young Planners and Node for a walking tour around the Jewellery Quarter.
Hear about the JQ’s unique heritage, see some of its most important historic buildings and explore how its townscape continues to evolve through new development (including the Setl residential development, and Great Charles Street mixed-use scheme).
The tour will visit key locations within the JQ, recently completed and under-construction developments and includes a taster tour around the Coffin Works Museum.
Join us for an informal social following the event at the Indian Brewery Taproom.
Programme
- Walking Tour: 4pm – 5.30pm
- Social: 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Route Information
Please meet at The Coffin Works, where there will be a short presentation and a museum taster tour.
The Coffin Works Museum 13-15 Fleet Street, Birmingham B3 1JP
We will then commence the walking tour which includes various stops throughout the Jewellery Quarter.
The social following the walking tour will be held at:
The Indian Brewery Taproom:
1 Mary Ann St, Birmingham B3 1RL
Accessibility
- The venue is 25-minute walk away from New Street Station and 20-minute walk from Snowhill Station.
- Car Parking is available at several sites within a short walk of the venue.
- The start venue is accessible by taxi but please do check for road works before you travel as that part of the city centre is currently undergoing road works.
The Coffin Works and the Indian Brewery Taproom are both fully wheelchair accessible. However, please note that the nature of this event as a walking tour does involve approximately a few kilometres of walking around the Jewellery Quarter, which does have some uneven footpaths, steps and cobbles.
The RTPI is committed to delivering inclusive events; to make sure that everyone can have the best possible experience. To help work towards being able to do this an event organiser will contact all booked participants to discuss any access needs or requirements that they might have. Contact Heidi Smith, to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. [email protected]
Please note this is a free event to all RTPI YP members.
