Event Description

Join the RTPI Dorset Young Planners and the National Trust for a walking tour through the Dorset countryside learning about the evolving coastline, and how and why this impacts planning.

Discuss the impacts of tourism on the landscape including:

  • Balancing visitor needs and the associated infrastructure with coastal change and adaptation;
  • Coastal erosion and climate change mitigation
  • Coastal erosion and impact on the historic environment and heritage assets
  • The sensitivities between sustainable travel, recreational pressure and access to the countryside

Learning outcomes

  • Gain understanding around climate adaptation

  • Gain understanding around coastal change;

  • Appreciate the sensitivities between tourism in coastal areas and the environment
