Event Description
Melville is the centrepiece building of a group of Grade I listed buildings at the Royal William Yard (RWY).
It has also won many awards including both the regional and national RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence in 2024. Find out more
The Awards judges said "the planning contribution of this development was outstanding, founded upon a clear vision of establishing a vibrant waterfront destination for a wide spectrum of users including local residents, tourists and office users".
Join Devon, Cornwall and Somerset Young Planners for an engaging talk and tour with Plymouth City Council to discuss the remarkable mixed-use project which secured the long-term future of Melville and explore the working partnership of Plymouth City Council, Urban Splash and Gillespie Yunnie Architects which were key to the innovative procedural and practical planning solutions incorporated.

Accessibility
- Parking is available within the Royal William Yard which is approximately a 2 minute walk.
- The nearest train station is Plymouth Train Station which is about a 40 minute walk.
- From the City Centre City Bus 34 service leaves from Royal Parade approximately every 30 minutes, which will take passengers to the main gate of Royal William Yard in under 10 minutes.
- Lifts are avaliable within the Melville Building should we be required to access upper floors.
- Accessible toilets are available on all floors.
