Conference Theme

The Art of Placemaking – Past, Present and Future – Time Well Spent.

The conference brings together speakers and experts on place-making, to discuss the lessons from the past as well as contemporary excellence and good practice. We’ll pick up different perspectives on place-making, including community voices, digital tools and take a peek into the future with Chief Planner, Fiona Simpson.

Morning

Session 1 featuring Public Finance Minister, Ivan McKee MSP; Honorary Member Lord Best; and RTPI President Lindsey Richards

Session 2 featuring Johanna Boyd (Planning Aid Scotland), Irene Beautyman, Shaping Places for Wellbeing (Improvement Service) and Josh Doyle

Session 3 featuring Chief Planner for Scotland, Fiona Simpson and a discussion panel of distinguished guests

 

Lunch

 

Afternoon

There will 3 be parallel tracks in the afternoon:

Track 1 - Walking Tours (Clydebank Development Framework; District Heating Scheme)

Track 2 - Digital Planning 

Track 3 - Placemaking Skills and Best Practice

The conference will close around 4pm, with closing remarks from RTPI Scotland Convenor Pamela Clifford followed by a drinks reception
