At this in-person session we will be hearing about the different roles of those who work with planners to deliver sustainable and healthy communities. We will be hearing from speakers focusing on the role of Public Health, the role of the NHS, and health case law including developer contributions. We will then explore how we can all work effectively together to improve equity in health especially in areas where there are particular challenges to both mental and physical health and wellbeing, considering how the wider environment plays a significant role in improving positive health outcomes.

What will you learn

  • Consider the role of public health in a council setting and how it relates to planning - Emily Stewart, Programme Officer Inequalities, Public Health, Coventry City Council
  • Learn about the NHS and its role in planning
  • Examine what can’t or shouldn’t be funded via developer contributions, pertinent case law - Will Thomas, Shoosmiths
  • Explore equalities, equity and health -  Exeter University

The session will be chaired by Clare Eggington, Planning Policy Manager, Coventry City Council.  It will include a panel Q and A,  followed by lunch.
