RTPI South West welcomes to you their CPD Seminar series for 2024. This is a HYBRID Seminar so you may opt to attend in-person or virtually. We hope this enables the event to be as inclusive as possible.
We are pleased to organise this event in conjunction with CIHT South West, The Transport Planning Society and RTPI Transport Planning Network.
Much is written and said about transport being a derived demand, with land use setting the location of that demand. As part of this seminar, we explore the links between good land use and good transport principles, how they complement each other, all the latest best practice and guidance on the subject, with several practical examples of exemplar developments delivered on the ground.
Why should you attend?
- Hear the latest updates from the Department of Transport including information on their winning connectivity tool
- Learn from the Peninsular transport quantified carbon toolkit
- Find out more about the Oxfordshire Local Transport Plan
- Understand how to apply the Active Travel England Toolkit
- An introduction to how Sustrans Air Quality projects approach placemaking
- Hear more about Catalytic Community Hubs – where community and mobility hubs come together to form the catalyst for new settlements
- Learn from a variety of case studies of transport planning in large scale housing developments
- Get to grips with developing rail proposals
- Receive the latest policy updates from the RTPI
- Be part of the debate on transport planning, who are we designing for, how do we change travelling behaviour, can we retrofit?
Please note that the programme is still in draft stage. We reserve the right to update and amend the programme accordingly. We will do our best to keep the event programme current and reactive to any key legislation or guidance changes.

Since graduating from UWE with an MA in Town and Country Planning Alexis started out in development management. Not content with just the two degrees Alexis completed an MSc in Transport Planning and Engineering at the University of Southampton to broaden his knowledge and expertise in transport planning. Looking for new challenges Alexis moved back into development management and is BCP’s Transport Development Manager.
