The planning system in Scotland is plan-led. Development planning is required to manage the development and use of land in the long-term public interest.

The development plan for any given area of Scotland consists of:

  • the National Planning Framework (NPF4 was adopted in February 2023); and
  • the relevant local development plan (LDP).

Moray Council adopted its current LDP in 2020, with both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils adopting LDPs in 2023.  All three Authorities are now looking towards preparing their next LDPs in accordance with the new legislative framework for development planning.

This event will provide an update on progress being made as the Authorities within the RTPI Grampian Chapter area work to bring forward their respective Evidence Reports for Gate Check and beyond.

Speakers include:

  • Andy Brownrigg, Team Leader – Local Development Plan, Aberdeen City Council
  • Piers Blaxter, Team Leader (Development Plan), Aberdeenshire Council
  • Eily Webster, Principal Planning Officer, Moray Council
