Aviva Studios, the permanent home of Factory International, was conceived with the vision of creating a flexible, innovative, and international-renowned space for artists and audiences. Factory International aims showcase new talent at the biennial international arts festival ‘Manchester International Festival’ (MIF) in Manchester City Centre – its permanent home. Factory International also uses Aviva Studios as its base for Factory Academy, a skills programme and is also used by Factory International as a space for ongoing community action and engagement throughout the year.

Aviva Studios' design is led by the world-leading practice Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), combining architectural excellence with innovation. The Aviva Studios comprises four primary elements: the warehouse, the theatre, two towers, and a foyer. Living true to its dedication to provide a highly flexible, ultra-modern facility in Manchester, the warehouse and theatre have been innovatively designed so they can be opened to one another, providing one continuous floor plan, or subdivided into three separate spaces, with alternative configurations possible in-between. These features mean that Aviva Studios is a unique and flexible space capable of housing a number of simultaneous performances without impact or interference on one another.

Please note:

  • There will be an opportunity for networking after the event in Aviva Studios' ground floor foyer and café bar ‘the Social’ – however, food and drink will not be provided as part of the event booking.
  • FI will try show you as much of the building as is possible on the day, however, access to the main performance spaces are subject to availability and dependent on the schedules of our events/technical teams working within those spaces preparing for events.
