Join us for an RTPI East Midlands study tour and presentations at Belton House.
This event will look to introduce delegates to Belton and explore the role of planning in helping to look after the historic and natural places under the care of the National Trust.
Belton House and Estate is largely owned and managed by the National Trust. Positioned to the northeast edge of Grantham in Lincolnshire, Belton is a popular visitor attraction locally and nationally. Belton is often described as the epitome of the English country estate. It has a rich history dating back to the 17th Century and surrounded by a large historic parkland.
Event Itinerary
- 10:30 – Arrival and coffee. Delegates will be able to use the main car park.
- 11:00 – Presentations from National Trust staff.
- 12:00 – Lunch and networking.
- 12:45 – Walking tour of Belton and the gardens.
- 14:00-14:30 – Depart.
Learning outcomes
As a Planner, you can expect to learn about the history and significance of the property, the restoration and preservation efforts that have been undertaken, and the various events and programmes offered to visitors, as well as management and maintenance of the property, including landscaping, building conservation, and visitor services.
Getting there
Belton House is located in Grantham, Lincolnshire on the A607. Parking is available at the site, while a number of buses also stop outside the main entrance gates to the house. The nearest train station is 3 miles away at Grantham, from which a taxi or bus can be taken towards the site.
