Devon, Cornwall and Somerset Young Planners are pleased to announce their Summer CPD event which will be a tour of Exeter Science Park, with talks from East Devon District Council and Stantec on Local Development Orders with food, drinks and networking to follow.

Synopsis

Exeter Science Park is a science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) business park and conference venue located at the M5 and A30 Junction. The park was established in 2013 and officially opened in 2015 and is approximately 26 hectares. The park is home to office space, laboratories, meeting spaces and a public café and a Zero-Carbon Hotel is currently under construction at the park. The park comprises of over 45 businesses, consultancies and organisations such as the University of Exeter, the Met Office, Eagle One, ONYX and Stantec. The Park has a sustainability focus, and all offices and laboratories are designed to have a net zero carbon footprint.

The tour around the Science Park will focus on the development of the park, creation of a business community, economic growth and development of the parks sustainability and net-zero focus. The tour will take place from the reception at 14:30 and will finish at 16:00.

Following this, we will then head to The Black Horse Inn, which is approximately a 10 minute walk, or short drive from the Science Park. Once at the Black Horse Inn, two speakers will provide talks about Local Development Frameworks, how to prepare an LDO, how they are used in practice and examples of where they have been used. The talks will finish around 17:30, and food will be served shortly after.
