Steve Quartermain CBE was the Government’s Chief Planner between 2008 and 2020. After 12 years in the role, Steve saw the planning system transformed; from the NPPF and planning guidance suite to Permitted Development rights and the design agenda. With 40 years of planning experience in local and central government roles Steve has a wealth of industry knowledge.
During the session, Steve will be presenting his career and answering questions from the audience. Steve’s presentation will present his views on planning at present and where he sees it going for the future. This is a rare opportunity for planners to meet a senior government planner in an informal setting to discuss skills required to have a successful and meaningful career with the opportunity at the end to have a relaxed discussion with questions from the audience welcomed.
