Ensuring the ethical behaviour of its Members is one of the RTPI's priorities.  In February 2023, the RTPI introduced a new Code of Professional Conduct which applies to all categories of RTPI membership.  Changes to the Code include a clearer requirement to comply with CPD and to apply reasonable standards to all work undertaken, updated equality requirements and a requirement to base professional advice on appropriate evidence.

RTPI Complaints Investigator, Ruth Richards, will guide Members through some of these changes and provide insight to some areas of complaint most commonly seen by the RTPI including ethical workplace challenges, conflicts of interest, equality and diversity, and use of social media.

Kimmie Walker will then share new updates to Professional Development Plans (PDPs) and discuss more widely the importance of maintaining a good CPD record, why Member’s should undertake CPD, and to explain the RTPI’s annual monitoring process.  This will be targeted specifically towards more experienced Members, however, is likely to be of interest and relevance to all categories of Membership.

By attending this event you will:

  • Gain a clearer understanding of the RTPI Code of Conduct
  • Ensure professional competency is maintained
  • Keep up to date on new guidance

Speakers:

  • Ruth Richards, Complaints Investigator, RTPI
  • Kimmie Walker, Professional Development Officer, RTPI
