This webinar focusses on 'Fostering innovation through planning'

As many other fields, Planning will not go untouched by recent technological innovations. Communication has changed beyond recognition over the last 20 years. GIS has emerged as a transformative technology forming the backbone of spatial planning. Remote sensing has facilitated a leap in the way past institutional short fallings are being negated. The advent of artificial intelligence once again heralds a change in the way we as planners will be shaping the future of our cities and country sides, how exactly is anyone’s guess.

Innovation in Planning however is not uniform and technological innovation and their application will need to be tailored to the highly specific context of different geographies. In this talk we will hear voices from three continents exploring how technology is being used to help Planners making a positive impact on an urbanising world, under the threat of climate change.
