From Rome to Athens to Bristol, please join the RTPI Bristol Region Young Planner as part of the ‘Jane’s Walks’ global festival on Thursday 11th May.

Jane’s Walks, as inspired by the celebrated urbanist Jane Jacobs, are a global movement of free, community-led walking conversations taking place in cities worldwide. The walk in Bristol will focus on ‘the greening of the city’. It will be led by Trishna Patel (Consultant, Landscape Architecture, LUC), Nick Smith (Associate, Planning, LUC) and Edward Tarratt (Associate Director, Landscape Architecture, LUC).

Urban greening presents the opportunity to meet sustainability objectives and deliver a wide range of environmental benefits, from the control of air pollution alongside busy roads; reducing surface water flooding; and the encouragement of wildlife. The walk will be an opportunity to look at the greening opportunities for Bristol and discuss the challenges to their delivery.

Please note the walk will start at 12.30pm by Cascade Steps, St. Augustine’s Parade. The walk will be focused around Bristol’s Harbourside and will finish at 1.30pm by the Arnolfini, Prince Street.  Delegates will need to consider appropriate footwear and to be mindful of prevailing weather conditions on the day.
