As part of the RTPI International online series RTPI Yorkshire are hosting a joint webinar with the University of Sheffield on housing, health and inequality in the UK and abroad.

High inflation and economic uncertainty has deprived communities in the UK and informal urban settlements around the world, who are hardest hit when it comes to food security, health, wellbeing and housing.

At this event, in partnership with Sheffield University, planning researchers and health experts explore the link between planning and health with a specific focus on housing in the UK, Africa and Colombia.

They will explore how economics and social disadvantage contribute to these new pressures and identify approaches and strategies to better cope with them in the future.

Confirmed speakers;

  • Dr Jenny Preece, Research Associate with the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence, (CaCHE), Urban Studies and Planning, Sheffield University
  • Dr Melanie Lombard, Senior Lecturer, Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Sheffield University
  • Dr Alice Sverdlik, Lecturer in Global Development, University of Manchester
