We are pleased to host a session about new settlements at the world’s first garden city, Letchworth Garden City.  Hosted at the beautiful art deco Broadway cinema in the town centre, we will explore the design principles and master planning approach that underpin new settlements, how these can be successfully implemented, a detailed case study of a recent example and lessons from Letchworth’s stewardship model.

We will also explore the regeneration of an existing new town and the role of self-build in new settlements with the Right to Build Task Force.  We will finish with a guided walking tour of Letchworth by the town’s Heritage Manager, and there will then be an opportunity for Members to catch up in a local bar, where the walking tour will finish.
