Forth Green Freeport is Scotland’s largest opportunity to deliver a Just Transition to net zero, to attract significant inward investment, to build international trade and export capability, and to create high quality and well-paid jobs. The Forth Green Freeport proposal will generate up to 50,000 new green jobs and act as a catalyst for new green technologies and renewable energy manufacturing which will make a significant contribution to the re-industrialisation of Scotland. The bid will unlock £6 billion of private and public investment into productive and resilient industries including sustainable fuels, offshore wind manufacturing (including floating wind), shipbuilding, air transport and seaport fast-moving logistics. With The National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) now adopted, the Forth Green Freeport aligns with the National Spatial Strategy to attract new investment, build business confidence, stimulate GDP, export growth and entrepreneurship and facilitate future ways of working.

Led by Forth Ports, the bid consortium comprises both private and public organisations include Falkirk, Fife and City of Edinburgh Councils and industries including Babcock, INEOS, Scarborough Muir Group and Edinburgh Airport.
