Oonagh is Associate Director (Heritage and Townscape) at Lichfields with a background in Planning, Conservation and Urban Design. She is a fully accredited member of the RTPI and IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation) and Chair of the IHBC North Branch. Oonagh has varied experience within the public, private and charitable sectors and has worked across Ireland, Scotland and England. Since joining Lichfields in 2013, she has progressed housing, commercial and healthcare projects for public and private sector clients. She helps to deliver development in sensitive historic environments with experience in World Heritage Sites, Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings, Scheduled Monuments and Registered Parks and Gardens. She has particular experience in assessing the effects of proposals on the significance of heritage assets and the townscape and visual effects of developments in sensitive locations. Heritage and Townscape have a clear relationship with Urban Design and, together, they help to explain what makes places special and how to create special places.

Darran has 22 years’ experience in the highways and transportation field, having worked for both the public and private sector across the UK, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation (CILT). As Director of Milestone Transport Planning, he has an overarching role offering support to all business units across the company, in addition to being the lead for the northern office. As such, Darran has extensive and current project experience of all aspects of Policy Work, Feasibility Studies, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Highway Design, Site Supervision and Planning Appeals. Darren has been the Flood Risk Manager at Newcastle City Council since 2016. His Flood Management team acts as the Lead Local Flood Authority in Newcastle with primary responsibilities for implementing flood alleviation schemes to better protect at-risk properties and acting as consultee to the LPA on flood risk and drainage.
Darren was a key partner in the Blue Green Cities Project (2015-2020) that made the academic case for the use of Blue Green Infrastructure in an urban environment. He drafted the Blue Green Declaration signed by a range of partners in the City, including the RTPI. He is currently working with the Environment Agency to implement a major Climate Resilient City project based on blue green principles.
