The Planning for the Future White Paper proposed radical change affecting almost all aspects of the planning system --- with a particular focus on speeding up and front-loading the system. It emphasises the critical importance of intense community engagement but generally limits this to the early plan policy and guidance preparation stages of the process.
Upon appointment as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Michael Gove stated that he would radically revisit the White Paper proposals. At time of preparing this programme we had no information on the nature of revisited proposals or the likely timing of their announcement. It is, however, likely that the focus on speed and “simplicity” in plan and guidance preparation and the encouragement of / requirement for preparation through intense community engagement will continue to feature as key elements.
In this context we are including in the programme sessions which will focus on these two interrelated key areas of planning activity. The detailed content of each and the selection of speakers will be developed to provide the best possible guidance and support in relation to the detailed proposed changes once these are known.

Preparing Local Plans and Guidance
--- will focus on the processes involved in producing new format plans in probably very limited timescales. It is likely to include coverage of key supporting evidence and the use of digital systems and links to the sister event on community engagement and involvement

Information on speakers and topics to be confirmed soon.

This is an in-person event only.
