In conjunction with the RTPI South East, the University of Reading is pleased to announce the revival of its annual ‘Planning Futures’ lecture on Tuesday 15th March at 5.45pm. In 2022, the University is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of teaching planning. It is therefore entirely fitting that this year’s theme will be ‘The Future of the Planning Profession’ and the lecture will be given by Sam Stafford, host of the podcast; ‘Fifty Shades of Planning’. The evening will address, both, the current issues and challenges facing the profession, and future opportunities. Alongside Sam, there will be an introduction from Reading academics, drawing on our work on this theme, most recently summarised in a 2020 Planning Theory & Practice ‘Interface’. We’ll also joined by planners from the public and private sectors, who will be giving their reactions to Sam’s lecture.

After the lecture we’ll be serving light refreshments – an opportunity to continue the conversation informally. If you have any questions about the event please get in touch with Chris Maidment at [email protected]

  • Arrival from 5.45pm for a 6.15pm start.
  • Hybrid event - You can either join in person or virtually

The event will be held in the Henley Business School Building, at the University of Reading Whiteknights campus
