Poor air quality in our urban areas has negative health effects for residents, and often impacts the most vulnerable people in society. However, good planning and design can improve air quality in urban areas, and there is a move towards 'air quality positive approach' – ie developments that lead to an improvement in air quality. This online workshop for planners, organised in association with the WM-Air team at the University of Birmingham, will bring together colleagues from planning and environmental health to consider air quality in the UK in 2022, and to discuss how the planning process can improve air quality within our urban areas.
