At this event DLUHC and Homes England will set out the background to the Government's First Homes policy and explain how it is a major priority for them aimed at promoting home ownership.

They will also look in more detail at how the policy is intended to operate through planning including policy in local plans, decisions on applications and the use of developer contributions. Examples will also be provided to help illustrate how the policy should be implemented.

This background will be supplemented by an example on the early pilots of this policy, including a presentation on the trial of First Homes on the Brookvale site, Shirebrook, in Bolsover District in Derbyshire.

This exciting session will provide an update on the first lessons from practice and be useful to both public and private sector planners and to people working in strategic housing roles.

Speakers at this webinar will be:

  1. DLUHC – David Anstice-Pim and Leah Payne
  2. Homes England – Andy Nelson
  3. Bolsover District Council – Sarah Kay

Through a combination of an expert presentation and discussion, you will learn:

  • the background to the First Homes policy
  • the first lessons of the First Homes pilots

Attendees will have opportunities to raise questions and discuss the topics on the day.
