We would like to invite you to attend the Annual General Meeting of RTPI North East.

The main items of business will be to give thanks to those volunteers on our RMB and RAPC who have helped us achieve another successful year in way of our events programme, input into the RTPI research and keeping members updated. We will receive reports on activities in the current year, election of new committee members and to confirm Jen Patterson (Associate Director at DPP Planning) progression to Regional Chair 2023.

Refreshements and light catering will be served from 5.45 in the Map Room.

Guest speaker for the evening is Tony Flynn –

Tony's presentation will be titled 'The Brasilia of the North: Sixty years of City-Centre Regeneration in Newcastle'
Tony’s background is that he prepared this walk on the Sixtieth Anniversary of T Dan Smith becoming Leader of Newcastle City Council in 1960 to 1965 and the beginning of the post war regeneration in Newcastle.
The walk was turned into a book of the same title and will be on sale at the meeting for £7.95 with all his royalties donated to the West End Foodbank.
Tony was Deputy Leader of the Council under Sir Jeremy Beecham for 1987 to 1984 and Leader of the Council from 1994 to 2004. He was a member of the Tyne and Wear Development Corporation that regenerated the Quayside. Tony was also Chair of the Grainger Town Partnership that restored Newcastle’s Georgian Town Centre to its former glory. And was a founder member of the Newcastle and Gateshead Partner that bid for the European Capital of Culture.

After the conclusion of business, we will be going to the pub! (Liberty House (old Union Rooms).
