The South West Region is characterised by its diverse and intriguing coastline. However with Climate Change inevitable, we must plan to protect the natural and built environment. Planning for this change is often difficult, complex, costly and can be emotionally charged. In this seminar we aim to set out ideas, the latest research and practical examples of how to deal with this climate change driven topic.

  1. Managing changing coasts in England and Wales: Challenges and opportunities
    This presentation provides an overview of coastal management and key challenges arising in managing a changing coastline, especially in carrying out the non-statutory Shoreline Management Plans. Sally will explore research findings from a series of workshops that took place in 2019 where coastal managers, engineers, scientists and planners discussed the challenges in delivering shoreline management in practice.
