The focus on plan making has never been greater. The shape and scope of local plans both existing, pursuant to review or new are at the forefront of government proposals for change. With the bedding in of the standard method, emergence of White Paper proposals and the climate emergency high on the agenda there has never been a better time to take stock of recent changes, share current experience and look at what the future holds for the making of development plans. In association with Kings Chambers this webinar have brought together an excellent panel of speakers to consider the lessons learnt from plan-making in the North East, examine trends within the practice of preparing for and conducting examinations as we begin to emerge from the worst rigours of the pandemic and to raise questions about the hot topics – including those to emerge from the UK hosted COP 2026 Summit which will have closed just 4 days before this webinar.

Whilst considering changes, challenges and practices generally the webinar will be addressed to live issues in the North East including the “levelling up” agenda, the challenges associated with infrastructure, the consequences of changes to the standard method in terms of housing and growth and climate change.  The webinar will take the form of a panel discussion.

Delighted to have Gary Grant of Kings Chambers chairing this event and speaker panel comprising of

  • Alastair Willis, Planning Director - Lichfields
  • Rob Murfin, Interim Executive Director of Planning and Local Services - Northumberland County Council
  • Rea Psillidou, Planning Policy Manager - Eden District Council
