RTPI North East brings this webinar to you as part of the RTPI Online event series

Join the RTPI President Wei Yang as she undertakes a virtual visit to the North East exploring one of her key themes for 2021 – new woodlands and forests.

The Great Northumberland Forest initiative provides an excellent example of this.

This webinar also fit perfectly with the RTPI campaign recently launched calling for more trees to be planted in streets and areas where there is no access to nature #ReTreeFit.

The webinar will explore and discuss the key socio-economic and environmental drivers supporting the delivery of new woodlands, both in Northumberland and in the wider North East region.

Speakers

  • The Forestry Commissions Role in helping to deliver the Government’s Woodland Creation Ambition in NE England
Richard Pow, Partnership and Expertise Manager - Forestry Commission
  • Short national update on the current NPPF consultation and the planning elements of the forthcoming England Tree Strategy -
Victoria BankesPrice MRTPI, Planning Advise - Forestry Commission
  • The Great Northumberland Forest
    Tim Miller-Fay, Northumberland County Council

This visit will also mark the UN’s International Day - International Day of Forests on 21 March 2021.
