By the mid-2020s, the Government aims to have increased housebuilding to an average of 300,000 net new homes a year. But they don’t just want to get the numbers up, they want to deliver quality as well as well quantity, and they consider that Garden Villages are one way to help to ensure that, that happens.

The original Garden Villages were based on a strong foundation of industry and employment, with their developers seeking to create well designed, healthy places and affordable homes. And the plan is for the current raft of Garden Villages to do the same, providing well-designed, locally led garden communities that contribute to meeting our housing needs.

This session will be taking a closer look at the progress made by St Cuthbert’s Garden Village in Carlisle and Bassetlaw Garden Village between Worksop and Retford.
