As we are now ‘all’ mostly settled in our working from home environment, adapting our routines and embracing technology….we have experienced how we ‘can’ maintain the pace of work and continue our learning and professional development. I am sure most of you have already joined the wide variety of RTPI webinars that are on offer, allowing us to learn from professionals from across the UK.

However what is more challenging is being able to replicate the value of networking, that common interest conversation you may have across the table or in that ‘queue for lunch’ at a physical conference or seminar. These mixed audience instances would allow you to explore the theme of event more closely, sharing experiences and form new connections.

On the 25 February join me Alexis Edwards, RTPI SW Regional Management Board Member for an informal open house event where you can come and talk with other planners in the South West region.

Alexis will initiate the conversation with a short discussion about a topic he is professionally interested in which is 'Data'. So what are we measuring, what aren’t we measuring, what is the role of BIM, digital registration, interactive local plans, mutant algorithms etc. We will then invite other themes of conversation amongst the attending group. This could be current issues in planning, The Planning White Paper or our aspirations for planning in 2021 onwards, but otherwise we will take the conversation as the meeting naturally leads us.

The meeting will be limited in numbers to ensure everyone has a chance to exchange thoughts and ideas. It is only open to RTPI Members and will be hosted on Microsoft Teams

Other similar meeting will be held on the
